Votto locked up through 2023

Reds M.V.P Joey Votto has signed a 10 year 225 million dollar extension through 2023. Votto is now the best player in the N.L Central and one of the best in the N.L. He hit 309 last season along with 29 HR’s. I expect more from him this year as you can see from my predictions in other articles. With Pujols and Fielder out of the way I think Votto will lead the Reds to a division title at least. I also think this is a very smart move and I think it should pay out.

Jackson signs 1 year deal.

Edwin Jackson has signed a one year deal with the Nationals for somewhere around 5 million dollars. The Nationals have allot of left over money from missing out on Albert Pujols, Prince Fielder and C.J Wilson. They have already added Gio Gonzales to the rotation and if Stephen Strasburg comes back healthy those 3 should combine for a nasty 1-2-3 punch at the front of the rotation. For the first time in a long time the Nationals appear ready to compete in the nations capital city.

Tigers, Fielder.

The Detroit Tigers made a shocking move on Tuesday signing free agent slugger Prince Fielder for reportedly 9 years and 214 million dollars. Once again the mystery team comes out with the prize. Soon it will most likely be proven that mystery teams tend to win. Here’s some proof right now– take Cliff Lee for example. He hit the free agent market before the 2011 season; every one said it would be the Rangers or Yankees that would get Lee. Then out of nowhere come the Phillies and just like that they have him for 5 years.   Albert Pujols is another example. He was sure to go back to the Cardinals. I read the article saying that the Marlins took back their bid, but there was still a mystery team in the bidding. I went back to the home page and saw that Albert’s on the Angles for 10 years and the second largest contract in history! It just goes to show all GM’s not to reveal  their off season plans if they want to improve their team .

Yankees.

The Yankees are nearing a deal that would send top prospect Jesus Montero to the Seattle Mariners in return for pitcher Michael Pineda. Pineda was 3rd in rookie of the year voting last year after having an above average rookie season.Montero is the number 6 over all prospect and showed much potential in 18 games hitting 328 with 4 home runs and 12 RBI’s. Now that Montero is gone the Yankees have no full time DH.There are plenty of options in the free agent and trade markets the best of which is Prince Fielder, other options include Johnny Damon and Yoenis Cespedes.
